Audition to become a member of the MLSD Competition Team for the 2015-2016 Season! We have several commitment level options, so you can choose to audition to compete once a year or several times a year. Come to our audition workshops and the final auditions to learn more and be considered for a spot on the team!

Audition Information
The workshops ARE part of the audition and therefore mandatory. The workshops will include ballet evaluations and you will learn one of the audition dances. At the audition on Saturday you will perform the audition dance from the workshops and learn one more short piece of choreography to audition as well. Audition attire should be worn to each workshop and the final audition on Saturday (Black leotard, tights and hair in bun. Proper shoes for ballet, jazz/acro, contemporary/lyrical and/or tap. Booty shorts can be work on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday).
Please read the Competition Team Overview, have a parent/guardian attend the parent meeting Sunday July 26 from 3-4pm, and be sure to bring your completed audition form to the 1st workshop along with your 8 x 10 portrait headshot. The competition team overview and audition form are attached below.
Please attend the workshops and auditions for the age that you will be as of January 1, 2016.
Workshops - Monday July 27 through Thursday July 30 @ MLSD
Minis (Ages 5-8): Monday July 27 & Wednesday July 29 from 5-7pm
Juniors (Ages 9-11): Tuesday July 28 & Thursday July 30 from 5-7pm
Teens (Ages 12-14) Monday July 27 & Wednesday July 29 from 7-9pm
Seniors (Ages 15-18): Tuesday July 28 & Thursday July 30 from 7-9pm
Final Audition - Saturday August 1st @ Five Points Washington
Minis & Juniors (Ages 5-11): 10:00am-12:00pm
Teens & Seniors (Ages 12-18): 1:00-3:00pm
*Please note, just because you are auditioning for a certain age group, doesn't mean that is the age group you will be placed in. We are looking for a class average that falls into those categories, however if a student blends better (technically and/or stylistically) with the next age group down or next age group up, we will move them accordingly as we (the MLSD Staff) see fit. This is to ensure that all dancers are being set up to succeed, which is the goal of our staff :)
*Any student wishing to be considered for a competition solo next year must prepare a 1 minute solo to audition with during audition week. The solo auditions will take place on Wednesday July 29th, Thursday July 30th, and/or Saturday August 1st, depending on the number of soloists auditioning. Soloists should come prepared to perform their solo as early as Wednesday or Thursday that week.
